Stages
As in the game (GrowableEntity): growth speed = light × water × soil × temperature × (1 + 25% per G gene). Sunlight is averaged over the game day; at night plants grow only under a lamp.
Crossbreeding: path to the genes you want
Each slot is decided separately: neighbours' gene weights in that slot add up and the heaviest wins if it outweighs the plant's own gene. Red (W, X) weigh 1, green (G, Y, H) 0,6: two identical greens beat a red. Only reliable results count — no ties, whatever the centre plant is.
Enter your plants' genes and the target — we'll show which plants to put together to get it.
FAQ
How fast can you grow Cloth in Rust?
Cloth under a lamp in a fertilized planter at 60% water and 20° with GGGYYY genes ripens in 79.7 min and yields 63 per plant.
How fast can you grow Corn in Rust?
Corn under a lamp in a fertilized planter at 60% water and 20° with GGGYYY genes ripens in 58.4 min and yields 9 per plant.
How fast can you grow Pumpkin in Rust?
Pumpkin under a lamp in a fertilized planter at 60% water and 20° with GGGYYY genes ripens in 58.4 min and yields 5 per plant.
How fast can you grow Potato in Rust?
Potato under a lamp in a fertilized planter at 60% water and 20° with GGGYYY genes ripens in 55.9 min and yields 16 per plant.
How fast can you grow Black Berry in Rust?
Black Berry under a lamp in a fertilized planter at 60% water and 20° with GGGYYY genes ripens in 65.5 min and yields 5 per plant.
What are the best plant genes in Rust?
G speeds up growth (+25% per gene), Y increases yield (+25% per gene), H helps on poor soil and in cold, W raises water use by 10% per gene, X is empty. GGGYYY or GGYYYY are usually best for a farm.
How do you breed a plant with GGGYYY genes?
By crossbreeding in a large planter: parents go around, a plant of the same kind in the centre. Each gene slot is decided separately: neighbours' gene weights in that slot add up, red (W, X) weigh 1, green (G, Y, H) 0.6, the heaviest wins. The calculator above works out which plants to put together from yours.
