Set
Search shows only what can be worn with the current set: e.g. a hazmat suit cannot be worn with armor.
Insert slots
Total protection
Protection is per body part hit: items covering it and their inserts add up, capped at 100%. A broken item protects at 25%.
Weapon test

| Chest | 50 → 37.5 | 2 → 3 | 0.27 s |
| Stomach | 50 → 37.5 | 2 → 3 | 0.27 s |
| Arms | 50 → 37.5 | 2 → 3 | 0.27 s |
| Hands | 50 → 37.5 | 2 → 3 | 0.27 s |
| Legs | 37.5 → 30 | 3 → 4 | 0.4 s |
| Feet | 37.5 → 30 | 3 → 4 | 0.4 s |
A player has 100 HP. Damage = ammo damage × (1 − protection of that body part) × body part multiplier (bullets: head ×2, legs ×0.75). Damage falls off with distance as in the game (bullets down to ×0.8 at 100 m); time assumes every shot lands.
FAQ
What is the best armor in Rust?
Protection is per body part: items covering it and their plates add up, capped at 100%. Build a set in the calculator to see protection against bullets, melee, explosions and cold.
What clothing can't be worn together in Rust?
Items that take the same place on the body (two jackets, for example) can't be worn together — the calculator won't let you combine them.
